Quincy offers a variety of activities for people of all ages. However, you must cross off everything on the following list in order to be called a true Quincyan.

Nothing like the crosstown rivalry between the Quincy High Blue Devils and Quincy Notre Dame Raiders. Whether it's football or basketball you're bound to pick a side and cheer on YOUR team. This rivalry is always the talk of the town when these two schools get together.

Walk or Run in Bridge the Gap

Bridge The Gap, a 5K/10K run or walk, not only gets people active in the community, but raises a ton of money for Quincy Catholic Charities MedAssist Program. This year’s race will be on May 20th and there are even training sessions you can attend to get ready for the race. Whether you choose to run or walk, this marathon is fun for the whole family.

    Gems Baseball

Take the family to the best game on earth: baseball! Quincy Gems are gearing up for their upcoming season and you can watch all of the home games at QU Stadium. The 4th of July is the most popular weekend with fireworks after the games. GO GEMS!

    Take in a Fireworks Show

The 4th of July is my favorite holiday, and I love spending it at the Illinois Veterans Home. There is music, food, and fun for the whole family. Take a couple of chairs and blankets with you, and as the sun goes down sit back and watch the show. With most fireworks being illegal in Illinois, it’s the best and safest way to enjoy the 4th of July.

    Try A Healthy Treat

I know it’s cold now, but the weather will be nice again and that means ICE CREAM. You are a true Quincyan if you've ever been part of "Waffle Cone Wednesday" at TCBY. TCBY is always a great treat in the hot July heat.

    Go Sledding

The only good thing that comes from snow is the chance to go sledding. Make sure you head to South Park for the best sledding in town. It might take you a while to get back up the hill, but it soooo worth it.
