I am a fan of iron horses aka trains. One of the highlights of my life was a narrow gauge train I rode in Colorado. But, did you know one of the most scenic train rides you can take is in Missouri?

If you Google "trains still operational in Missouri", you'll see the list isn't long. However, there is one result that is worth checking out if you haven't already. It's the Branson Scenic Railway. The views especially out of the cars with window roofs are truly jaw-dropping.

It's worth noting that the Branson Scenic Railway offers a Polar Express that is very highly-rated. No, the tickets aren't free especially for the fancier full-window cars, but it's an experience that you really need to experience at some point in your life if you have even a passing interest in train travel.

One of my favorite experiences ever was on the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge train in southwestern Colorado. It's a trip with mountains on both sides and a river below much of the route. That's also highly recommended if you have the ability to do it someday. But, let's not forget that epic train travel is right in our backyard in Missouri, too.
