Covered Bridge in Illinois Built Before Lincoln was President
They don't make bridges like this anymore. There's a new video showing one of these historic spans in Illinois that was built years before Abraham Lincoln became President of the United States.

This is the Mary's River Covered Bridge located south of the St. Louis area not far from the Mississippi River in Illinois. As Wikipedia confirms, it was built in 1854 to transport farm products from Bremen to Chester, Illinois. Abraham Lincoln would not become President of America until 1861.
This historic Mary's River Covered Bridge remained active until 1930. By 1936, the state of Illinois took control of the span in an effort to preserve it. That plan has been more or less successful as the bridge still has all of the original wood it was constructed with. However, vandals have marred some areas leaving signatures and paint. Sad.
A YouTuber just shared his visit to this interesting bridge showing the condition it's in these days.
The Mary's River Covered Bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places near the end of 1974. It remains one of the last remaining bridges that remind us of an era more than a century gone in Illinois.
