5 Types of People Who Would Legit Really Love Living in Illinois

It's very much in fashion to give Illinois a hard time these days and some of that grief is probably deserved. But, I would argue that there are at least 5 types of people who would legit really love living in the Land of Lincoln and I'm not even being snarky about this.

If I'm being 100% honest, I should raise my hand as one of the people who has given Illinois lots of criticism. I've lived in Illinois many times in my life and all were decent experiences, but I did choose to return to my birth state in Missouri eventually.

All that being said, I'm being serious when I say that there are 5 types of friends who I would recommend packing the boxes and driving the moving truck to Illinois. Let's begin with an obvious one.

I have lots of Chicago Cubs fan friends which isn't easy to admit being a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan. I have many who live in different parts of America that I think would really enjoy the generally pro-Cub atmosphere in Illinois. Catching a game or two is about as good as it gets for them I suppose.

I have a friend who has family ship him some of the best pizza from Chicago. There's a reason for that. It's arguably the best pie in America and that probably provable with science.

Do you picture concrete when you think of Illinois? Did you know that some of the highest-rated hiking trails in America are found in the southern half of Illinois? They're not crowded either which is something you can't say about some western states who are famous hiking destinations.

Illinois has so many museums to choose from and they're not all in Chicago either.

I would argue that few states other than maybe Pennsylvania can rival Illinois when it comes to historical places. My parents took me on a day trip to all the Lincoln sites in Salem and Springfield, Illinois when I was a kid. Springfield alone has a half dozen must-see places to visit to see how America's most popular president lived.

Yes, it's true that Illinois is seeing citizens leaving in droves, but that doesn't mean there aren't many who would thrive here. It just depends if you want to view life in Illinois as a glass half full or empty.
