A year long project to improve Highway 57 from Quincy to Marblehead gets underway today. Motorists can expect delays for the next 12 months as the Illinois Department of Transportation (I.D.O.T.) prepares to patch and repair a 7.1 mile stretch of highway from Quincy's Maine Street to Marblehead.

The work zone will also see two bridge deck replacements as well as improved intersections and pedestrian areas. I.D.O.T. officials have also indicated that there will  be some lane closures with width restrictions in place as well as the project proceeds.

Access to homes and businesses will be available during the construction work.  Motorists should expect delays during the next 12 months as the work is expected to be completed by June of 2021.
