Bruce Gardner was honored with the Dr. Luis V. Amador Medallion Award at the recent Kiwanis Club's annual banquet in the Quincy Senior Center.  He is only the sixth recipient in the 41-year history of the club.  It is the highest honor awarded by the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District of Kiwanis, for outstanding service within the community.

Among his many accomplishments, Bruce is co-chair of the Sammy & Kids Golf Tournament, which is the club’s largest fundraiser, generating over $20,000 annually. He is chair of the Club's Annual Clergy Appreciation Breakfast.  He has also secured other fund-raising opportunities and service opportunities, designed to meet the club's mission of serving the children of the community.  He served as President of the club three different years.  And the list goes on.  He has also been active in Quincy Preserves, the District and his church.

Making the presentation, fellow Club member and previous Amador winner Paul Brown stated: "Bruce Gardner is the epitome of what a true Kiwanian is and does. In his 33 years of membership in the Gem City Kiwanis Club of Quincy, IL, he has worked on virtually all of the club’s projects and chaired many of them. When called upon, Bruce always rises to the occasion." Also pictured is Scott Walden, another previous winner.
