If you think being a Missouri State Highway Patrol officer is easy, think again. New dashcam video shows the moment a patrol car in pursuit of a homicide suspect was impacted by bullets shattering the glass.

Be warned that the video shared this week by the Missouri State Highway Patrol is intense. It documents their pursuit of a homicide suspect in Boone County, Missouri on May 7, 2026. According to their description, Boone County Sheriff's Office was investigating a homicide northeast of Columbia. The suspect was being pursued north on Highway 63 with the help of the Columbia, Missouri Police Department. Corporal Brandon Harris of the Missouri State Highway Patrol joined the pursuit and took over the lead. He caught up to the suspect's vehicle and was able to disable it by shoving the back right quarter-panel.

It was at that time that shots were fired by the suspect shattering the glass of Officer Harris' vehicle. As the officer turned around to drive back to where the suspect had been stopped, he got out of his vehicle and you can see numerous bullet holes in the side of his patrol car.

As the video mentions at the end, the homicide suspect was found deceased from a self-inflicted wound when the officers arrived at where his vehicle was stopped. It says that Officer Harris was treated for minor injuries from broken glass when the bullet impacted his window. This is just another example of how Missouri law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day. It's not a career for the faint of heart.
