Average Cost Of Prom Night is $1139 Per Couple…Yikes!

It's prom season and with it comes all the expense of going to the prom. The cost of everything continues to go up and the cost of going to the prom is no exception.

I was reading a report that the average couple going to their high school prom will spend approximately $1100 for the evening. That includes, the cost of a tux, a dress, flowers, a limo rental and dinner for two.

I know parents love to see their son or daughter all dressed up but are we getting to the point of pricing the prom scene out of many people's budgets? If you ask the kids, I bet they would rather wear jeans, a shirt, drive their own car and eat at McDonalds and head to the school dance rather than get all dressed up.

Perhaps I am wrong, but my guess is that the prom is more for the parents than it is for the kids.
