Missouri’s 50 Best High Schools for 2026-2027

As the dog days of summer wind down, soon the attention will return to back to school. To go along with that, there's a new list of the best high schools in Missouri for the upcoming 2026/2027 school year based on a number of important metrics.

When you're trying to measure how good (or not) a high school is, it's vital to consider a number of different factors that affect a student's educational experience. The most comprehensive I've been able to find is Niche. They use data directly from the U.S. Department of Education. Here are the high schools in Missouri that have the best teachers, college preparation, safety and variety of extra-curricular activities that make them the highest-rated in the state.

I was surprised to see the Missouri high school that I graduated from didn't make the top 50 list. I'm hoping those that set these rankings didn't hold my lack of achievement against them. Looking back, I can see how nearly every teacher I had played a role into shaping me into the person I've become (or at least the good parts however limited those may be). I feel like they gave me the best chance to succeed once my formal education was done. I'm sure that the students today, especially those at these top 50 Missouri high schools, will one day be able to look back and say the same.
