Not a day goes by that I don't get contacted either by phone or email with yet another scam.  The most persistent one seems to be that my car warranty has expired and the second most is that I have won a free room at the Marriott Hotel someplace on this planet.

Lately though, I have been receiving threats that there is a warrant out for my arrest due to fraudulent bank account activity.  Who calls you about a warrant in advance of serving it?

The newest one I received was last week when I got an email saying I violated a Federal Law and I have  a court case next week (which would be this week if it were true). Listed below is the exact email I received:

Court Case #3294294

Hereby we inform you that you are suspected of violating of the Federal Law under Title 16 USC § 8763.

Related hearing will be held next week at 3:30PM in Courtroom 6B. Case number is 7376-333061051.

In case you or your attorney are not able to attend to the court on the mentioned day, please inform us by sending a respond here with the specified reason reason for abscence. You have to respond not later than 10 workdays before the day of hearing.

List of documents to provide and further information can be found in an attached file.

According to the above scam, I have broken a  Federal Law, I have a court hearing at a specific time in a courtroom with no address or city listed and two misspelled words ("respond" instead of response and "abscence" instead of absence). Plus it goes on to say I have ten working days to respond to them despite the listing that my hearing is next week (less than ten days). And finally, it is signed by a person with a title and no address listed.

It is sad to think that there are people who get sucked in by these low-lifers who take advantage of them.  The charges against these people should be severe and Congress needs to hold hearings on these scamming people and do it now!
