Arrest Made in Death of a Two-Month Old Child in Quincy
An arrest has been made in the death of a two month old child that occurred nearly 6 months ago. Adams County State’s Attorney Gary Farha, in cooperation with Chief Rob Copley and the Quincy Police Department, today announced that Travis J. Wiley was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder and Aggravated Battery to a Child.
Gary Farha praised the work, dedication and professionalism of the Quincy Police Department and specifically Detective Kevin Taute and Detective Sergeant Bryan Dusch, as well as the St. Louis City Medical Examiner.
In today's news release, Farha was quoted as saying “Nearly 6 months ago Travis Wiley murdered a defenseless 2 month old child. In the past 6 months, Detective Taute, along with multiple members of the Quincy Police Department and the State’s Attorney’s Office, have worked tirelessly to ensure that Mr. Wiley is held accountable for his conduct. My office will continue the tremendous work that the Quincy Police Department began and will fight to see that justice is done for the victim, her family, and our community.”
Travis Wiley has been charged with three counts of First Degree Murder and one count of Aggravated Battery. He is currently being held on a five million dollar bond in the Adams County Jail. He was scheduled to make his first appearance on these charges this morning.
These charges, as well as the statements herein, are based upon probable cause and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
