9 Things to Do and See in Quincy/Hannibal This Fall

It's baaaacccckkk...October 7th from noon until 10:00 pm. The FREE Rotary Oktoberfest will take place outside of the Dick Brothers Brewery and feature brewery tours, live music, beer tastings, and the ever-popular 0.2K Beer & Brat Dash (200 meter dash while drinking a beer and scarfing a brat). New this year, on Friday, there will be a gourmet German dinner and trolley tours on Saturday. For more information, click HERE.

If you think you can handle it, check out this year's Hannibal Jaycees Haunted House. Since I am scared of everything (especially clowns) I probably won't be going through this (or any) haunted house this season. But, if you can handle it, the Warehouse of Nightmares is waiting for you. This one raises money for the Hannibal community and promises to scare the crap out of you. They’re open Fridays and Saturdays in October from 7:30 pm until midnight. Opening night is October 6th, check them out on Facebook.

Who doesn't love going and picking out their own pumpkin? You can do that and more with a stop at Mill Creek. The pumpkin patch will be open weekends in late September and throughout October from noon - 5 pm. They also offer asparagus, strawberries, sweet corn, tomatoes, and all sorts of homemade foodstuffs. Plus, they have hayrides and a corn maze for the little ones.

The folklife festival in Hannibal brings artists from all over to show off their artwork. The 41st festival in historic downtown Hannibal, will take place October 21st and 22nd. Come check out unique handmade crafts, arts, music, food, and drinks. There’s plenty to see at THIS LINK.

Fall + Football = TAILGATING! Last year I remember visitors would bring RVs to tailgate before a QU football game. I'm not saying bring your RV, but grab some friends and support QU's football team (and have some fun doing it too). Here's the full schedule.

I made two trips to Edgewood already this season in pursuit of honeycrips apples, saltwater taffy, and of course, SLUSHIES! This weekend, I may try a homemade apple pie (if I get there before they are sold out). To see more of what Edgewood Orchards has to offer, click here.

The Great River Grape Escape is this weekend at Clat Adams Park. Eight local wineries will be at the park this year (for a complete list, click here). Admission is free, but if you want to taste the wine (and of course you do), that’ll be $15 which includes a commemorative glass and five tastings. For more information, find them on Facebook.

This is one of my favorite festivals of the year! The annual festival kicks off September 30 and runs throughout the weekend. There's a parade, carnival rides, and of course delicious apples. The weekend is jam packed with fun for the whole family. Here's the link!

Nothing like looking at tin dusters and thinking how cool it would be to own one of them. For over 40 years, the Tin Dusters Fall Color Run have been coming to Quincy. As per tradition, this year's event takes place on the Friday following the second Sunday in October (October 13 for those of you doing the math in your head). I love seeing all the cars lined up throughout the weekend.
