Your Tax Preparer Needs a Hug Right Now!
Tomorrow is April 15, or “Tax Day,” as Americans know it. It’s the day that working Americans must submit their tax returns to Uncle Sam by midnight. Many Americans handle their own taxes, but the government has made it more and more difficult over the years to do that anymore, so Americans are turning to others to handle the forms for them.
I know several tax accountants who right about now are ready to stop moving decimal points. I know for sure I could not do what these tax preparers do. Day in and day out they have been dealing with numbers, percentages, and decimal points until they see them in their sleep (what sleep?).
They say the President’s picture changes with time from when he takes office to when he ends his stay. This is true with tax preparers as well. I can see it on the faces of my friends in that business from January to today. They are tired, withdrawn, and “sucking it up” for the stretch run to midnight tonight. Some have pulled their hair out until they have only one bang left on top of their head (better write off the Rogaine).
The tax laws changed again this year to include Obamacare so they have had to undergo additional training to keep up with everything out there April 15 maybe the deadline for most Americans, but there have been other deadlines that these people have to meet as well for business owners, farmers and so forth.
So hopefully, you won’t be one of the procrastinators who decide to show up at a tax preparer’s office today or tomorrow hoping to get your return done. They have enough pressure on them already without that happening. If so, there is also an extension they can file for you.
Speaking of extension, they will all need an extended vacation when all the tax dust settles.
