Elite Air Force Thunderbirds Flying to Illinois in June 2027

If you have ever been near where the United States Air Force Thunderbirds have performed, you know that it's one of the most awe-inspiring shows you can imagine. There's good news for everyone in Illinois as this elite flying team will be performing at an air show in the state in June of 2027.

I saw this news shared by Scott Air Force Base on their Facebook page recently. Their air show scheduled for the weekend of June 12 and 13 will include the mighty Thunderbirds.

More than a decade ago, my family lived in Grand Junction, Colorado for a period of time and the US Air Force Thunderbirds performed at an air show there. They arrived several days early and started practicing over the area. Several times their flight brought them over our apartment and the sound was deafening. Imagine a thousand jet engines screaming in the sky above you and you can begin to imagine what that sounded like. Here's a pic my wife took as they roared over our heads.

I cannot contemplate the type of skill it takes the Thunderbird pilots to do what they do. If you have any doubt that they are truly the best of the best when it comes to military pilots, make sure you're near Scott Air Force Base next June. You won't regret it.
