Models Show Wisconsin Has Biggest Risk of Huge Winter Snow Event
If you've lived in Wisconsin for any length of time, the concept of snow in winter is a given. However, you might be interested to know that a new computer model now shows Wisconsin in the heart of the area with the biggest risk of a huge winter snow event.
The first YouTube channel that I saw breaking down the new seasonal outlook from NOAA's Climate Prediction Center is Weather On The Go. Since it appears he is a legitimate meteorologist, you'd do well to watch his full explanation about why Wisconsin is now in the heart of the area with the biggest risk of a snow storm of more than 8 inches this upcoming winter. This map really does show you all you need to know.
This is all La Niña's fault. The new outlook from the Climate Prediction Center shows that November is when this weather pattern will be most likely to take over. That will bring with it a jet stream pattern that should be a super highway for storm tracks and (spoiler alert) Wisconsin is expected to be on the receiving end of it.
It's the month of February 2025 that looks like the most likely month for big snow for our part of America.
We are still very early into Fall which means these projections are very much subject to change. Still, it would be a good idea to keep an eye on storms as they develop this winter to see if this pattern plays out like he expects.
