Be prepared, these items are MUST haves in your car during extreme winter weather.

We have been stuck in a week long winter weather nightmare here in the Tri-States, and it doesn't seem to be letting up anytime soon! Many of us have lived our whole lives in the Midwest and feel very comfortable driving in these extreme conditions. But accidents can happen, and in these extreme conditions, you don't want to be stranded on the side of the road, or stuck in a ditch and not be prepared! To help make sure you and your loved ones are safe this winter weather driving season, here is a list of essentials to keep in your car.

I got this list from popularmechanics.com, which is a great car website, I highly recommend you checking out the list on their website because it has links to actually purchase the items on the list, to see it CLICK HERE. I learned a ton from reading the list, and so I wanted to give you a recap of what is on there, here are the 9 items on their list...

  • Snow Socks for your tires, they are a space saving less effective version of chains on your tires
  • Spare Phone Charger, something battery powered that wont rely on your cars battery.
  • Water
  • First Aid Kit
  • Wool Blanket
  • Road Flares
  • Folding Shovel
  • Windshield De-Icer
  • Flashlight

All of these items are easy to find, wouldn't take up a ton of space in your car, truck, or SUV, and could really be the difference for you if you happen to find yourself in a bad situation. In these extremely cold temperatures, bad winds, and snow pileups, no matter how great of a driver you are mother nature can always get the best of you, so make sure you're prepared!
