December’s Mild End Could Be Big Trouble for Missouri in January
I am not a fan of winter so I'm especially enjoying the unbelievably mild December weather in Missouri this year. There are warning signs that January may mean real winter weather roaring back like a lion though sooner rather than later.
As I shared recently, Missouri and Illinois could see storms at the end of 2024, but it will likely be thunderstorms and not snow. That's still accurate, but I saw something today shared by former chief TV meteorologist Travis Roberts on his Weather with Travis YouTube channel. He pointed out what we already know about the next week and a half of December with warmer than usual temperatures prevailing.
But, look just one week later at what New Year's Day looks like especially for Missouri and Illinois.
He's seeing a very sudden pattern change which should mean that Missouri and Illinois will get bone-chilling cold practically overnight.
When you combine this very scientific meteorological weather model with the old fashioned Farmer's Almanac prediction of a big January snow event for Missouri and Illinois, you get the idea that our mild winter may not stay that way much longer.
Better enjoy December mild weather while you can. January is starting to look like a big ole winter bear.
