What Mom REALLY Wants For Mother’s Day
As we creep closer to Mother's Day, some of you might be panicking on what to get your mom. So I polled the moms in the office to find out what we REALLY want (and it might not be what you had planned).
Ask any mom (myself included) and we'll tell you that being a mom is the hardest, most rewarding job a woman can do. There are good days, there are bad days, and there are, what I like to call, "lock-yourself-in-the-bathroom-for-five-minutes-for-some-mommy-time" days. And for all their hard work, we honor them by giving them their own special day.
I asked all the moms here at Townsquare Media and you might be surprised at some of their answers.
"I want a day to myself just to change things up a bit," one mom said. Another wanted just the opposite and wants all of her kids in the same place for a day.
Other answers included a clean house, a massage, and generally being treated like royalty for a day.
For me, I just want a few hours to myself as well. It could be the day before or after, or even the following weekend. But just some time for ME. Is that selfish? I'm only asking for one day out of 365, so I don't think so.
And while we're on the subject, here are a few things you might want to avoid:
- Breakfast in bed (because by the end of it you'll be cleaning bed sheets AND the kitchen).
- Going out for a nice brunch sounds like a great idea, but not when mom is the one that needs to get the kids dressed, make sure they don't fight, order food, cut food, etc. etc. Not exactly a relaxing day.
Whatever you decided to get mom I am sure she will love it. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms and moms to be. Here's hoping you get what you want this year and are able to enjoy every second of it!
