This is one of those deadlines that is really sneaking up on a lot of people. The deadline for getting your Real ID in Missouri is approaching, but what happens to you if you miss it? There's no need to panic as there are ways around it.

I got curious about this myself as I just got my driver's license in Missouri renewed last year and could not remember if I got the Real ID version or just the regular license I've had for nearly forever.

According to the Missouri Real ID website, you only have until May 7 to get this new form of identification.

What happens if you don't have a Missouri Real ID by May 7?

The mandate is more from the federal government than it is from the state of Missouri. For most things in Missouri, you can continue to do the things you always do like drive and open a bank account. It's when you need to travel that it might become iffy. If you plan to fly internationally, the TSA will require a Real ID compliant state driver's license.

Missouri says " It does not affect current uses of your license or ID card for purposes such as driving, voting or registering to vote, other state purposes, accessing federal facilities that do not require a person to present identification, age verification, and more."

You can check out the TSA site for other forms of identification you'll need to travel both domestically and internationally.
