My kids and I love to cook and bake together, even though I'm not the best baker. Here's a chance to them cooking and eating healthy for the new year.

Hy-Vee is hosting an online cooking class for kids. Little Chefs in the Hy-Vee Kitchen will be held virtually on Wednesday, January 13 starting at 5 pm. The class will only be an hour , take place on Zoom, and kids will get two recipes put together by dietitian Susan. This class is designed for children pre-k to 2nd grade, and they will be cooking a snowman pizza and a banana blizzard.

You must register for the class and purchase the ingredients for both the pizza and banana blizzard.

Here are the ingredients and supplies you will need for this class!

  • Whole wheat English muffin (1)
  • Shredded mozzarella or pizza cheese, 1 bag
  • Pizza sauce, 1 jar
  • Sliced black olives, 1 4 oz can
  • 1 red or orange bell pepper
  • Cooking spray
  • ½ cup skim milk
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 2 scoops frozen vanilla yogurt
  • Spoon
  • Butter knife
  • Cutting board
  • Oven
  • Baking sheet
  • Foil
  • Blender
  • 2 cups

If you are wanting your children to start eating a little healthy, this might be the way to do it. Get them in a kitchen with a dietitian to show them that eating healthy can be fun.
