Hy-Vee Lifts Mask Requirements
In a press release send out this morning, Hy-Vee announced that fully vaccinated customers and employees do not have to wear masks anymore.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, it was a requirement for both customers and employees to wear a mask while in any of the Hy-Vee stores. It was their number one priority to keep everyone safe and healthy, and the believe they have done so. Starting today, if you're fully vaccinated you will no longer need to wear a mask, but highly recommended that if you are not vaccinated to please continue to wear a mask for both customers and employees.
Hy-Vee is among many chain stairs that are adopted to this new policy. Other stores include, Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Target, Aldi, Starbucks, and Home Depot. Hy-Vee will maintain Plexiglas barriers at all check stands, self-checkout stations, pharmacy counters, customer service counters and convenience store checkouts. They will also continue to give out free COVID-19 vaccines at Hy-Vee Pharmacy locations.
I have to be honest it was really weird for me to walk into Hy-Vee this last weekend (I am fully vaccinated) without a mask. It was like not wearing a seat belt, but on the other hand it was a reminder that we are headed in the right direction with vaccinations and to keep getting the word out. Will we have to wear masks again? Who knows, personally I hope not, I enjoy not having to yell at an employee who can't hear me because of my mask. Time will tell on that issue, but for now its small victories that we need to take and run with.
