Culver-Stockton College, Adams Fiber and WGEM-TV are teaming up to provide a live- stream of the Grand Prix of Karting this afternoon from South Park.
The broadcast will feature seven camera angles as well as aerial shots from a drone. It also will include live statistics. Culver-Stockton, which is coordinating the broadcast, expects to use more than 5,000 feet of camera lines (up from 2,000 last year) and is adding five cameras. Adams Fiber installed a fiber-optic cable in South Park last year and added another near the start/finish line this year to improve the broadcast quality.

The Grand Prix can be seen online on WGEM-TV at https://wgem.com/watch-live-quincy-grand-prix/ or on Facebook Live at https://www.facebook.com/pg/QuincyGrandPrix/posts/.

Championship races begin at noon and admission is free.

The original Grand Prix, created by Quincy promoter Gus Traeder, started in 1970 and ran for 32 years, first on the streets of downtown Quincy and then moving to the 1.3-mile course in South Park (see picture above). Traeder’s son, Terry, now promotes the two-day event, which had 302 entries and attracted an estimated 16,000 fans last year.
