Happy birthday, Mark Twain!. Born on November 30, 1835, the literary icon (and Hannibal’s most famous resident) would have been 181 today.
On Thursday, September 29 at 1:00 p.m. members of the Descendants of Douglasville and the Huck Finn Freedom Center (Jim’s Journey) will sponsor a dedication tribute to a man named Joe Douglas.
The annual Twain on Main celebration returns to historic downtown Hannibal on Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 28 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 29 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. More than 175 booths of arts and crafts, merchandise and specialty foods will be featured on Main Street, and three entertainment areas will spotlight Mark Twain’s classic books: The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, The Princ

Every year the Missouri Department of Transportation conducts a “Battle of the Belt” competition for Northeast Missouri area schools. The Battle of the Belt is a student safety belt competition which runs from October 1 thru November 9.
The tri-state area has a lot to offer. From Mark Twain in Hannibal, to the parks of Quincy, to fairs and festivals in most every small town surrounding, towns in our area are often under-rated when it comes to providing interesting and fun things to do.
