Just when I thought I had Missouri weather figured out for this week, nature says "hold my hat". There are some parts of the state that could very well see blizzard conditions for a period of time Wednesday night.

I enjoy following Ryan Hall on YouTube as he is a very sensible and not sensationalistic weather expert. He noticed something today that really took me by surprise and that's multiple bands of snow that look to travel across Missouri starting Wednesday morning continuing through Wednesday night and even into Thursday morning, too.

This is what the map looks like around 1p on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.

By 5pm, the frozen precipitation will be over most of the western half of the state.

By 10p, pretty much all of northern Missouri is affected.

Please note that this does not (and will not) mean much accumulation, but high winds were already going to be a problem for Missouri on Wednesday anyway, so the "blizzard conditions" are really only potential visibility issues for travelers.

I checked the National Weather Service forecast for Kansas City, Missouri and Hannibal, Missouri and both said little if any accumulation is expected. It's also important to know that the NWS does NOT use the word "blizzard" to describe what will happen Wednesday in Missouri.

When I think of a "blizzard", I think of snow drifts. That is NOT what will happen in Missouri Wednesday, but please know that travel could be iffy if you happen to be driving when the snow and wind combine.
