There is a notice just submitted to the state of Illinois of a plant closure in the northwestern part of the state that will result in a mass layoff of more than 100 workers beginning almost immediately.

Normally, a WARN notice to the state of Illinois gives 90 days of notice of an imminent layoff of a significant number of workers. In this case, the layoffs appear that they will begin as soon as tomorrow based on the Illinois Work Net website.

What Illinois plant is closing and how many will lose their jobs?

The notice says Elkay Plumbing Products Company in Savanna, Illinois will lay off 135 workers beginning on April 25, 2025. The reason given is "Plant Closure". As of this writing, that is tomorrow. A share on X (aka Twitter) confirms these layoffs.

The official Elkay Plumbing website says they manufacture faucets, bottle filling stations, drinking fountains and foodservice products. It's unknown if these workers will be offered positions at other locations within the company or not.
