I was under the impression that we were in the middle of a quiet period of weather where Missouri would not experience much severe activity, but it appears that I was very wrong. The Storm Prediction Center is now warning that Missouri is at risk of severe storms starting as early as Thursday.

I was happily living in my naive world when I came across Meteorologist Travis Roberts on YouTube who passed along word that NOAA's Storm Prediction Center had just issued an advisory that placed parts of southeastern Missouri in a risk area for severe weather on Thursday, April 10, 2025. I looked for myself and, sure enough, Missouri is now included in the danger zone for severe storm development.

I had seen multiple storm chasers and meteorologists pointing to late April as a resurgence of explosive thunderstorm development. I was NOT expecting that the parts of Missouri that have been hit the hardest by tornadoes and flooding over the past few weeks back in an almost immediate danger of more of the same.

What is at risk for parts of Missouri Thursday?

The Storm Prediction Center says strong winds and hail are the main threat, but isolated tornadoes can't be ruled out either.
