Missouri Place on Brink of Breaking All-Time November Rain Record
There's a famous song called "November Rain" and there's one place in Missouri that has truly embraced it as it's on the brink of breaking an all-time record.
The National Weather Service in St. Louis, Missouri just dropped some interesting data about how much it's rained in November. This graphic shows how much rain Lambert Field in St. Louis has recorded so far in November.
That 8.87 inches in St. Louis is just through the first 17 days of November. Considering that most of Missouri is getting drenched again tonight by storms, you'd have to imagine that breaking this nearly 40 year old record should be in reach.
The question is how much rain is too much rain? Missouri has been battling drought conditions, but this late season rain is much too late to help many farmers at this point. However, combined with a decent winter of snowfall, it could mean next Spring will be much better when fields get planted.
Now, we wait to see if the remaining 12 days of November will break the record set back in 1985. I'm not a betting man, but I'd put a dollar on that happening, but I've famously been wrong before, so...
