St. Louis Cardinals Paul Goldschmidt Wins First Ever MVP Award
He's been the runner-up before, but never won the most valuable player award...until now. St. Louis Cardinals first basemen Paul Goldschmidt was named the MVP in the National League for his amazing 2022 season.
The announcement was done live at 5p tonight via the MLB Network. To make the moment even more special, Paul Goldschmidt was awarded the MVP award by his teammate and legend Albert Pujols. Paul accepted the award from his home with his family by his side.
ESPN is reporting that Paul received 22 of the 30 first place votes. Manny Machado of the San Diego Padres was second while Paul's teammate and buddy Nolan Arenado came in 3rd. ESPN shared Paul's impressive 2022 stats saying he "led the NL in slugging (.578) and OPS (.981) while compiling the highest OPS-plus (180) of his career".
MLB shared Paul Goldschmidt's official final stats for the 2022 season showing he had 178 hits, 35 home runs along with 115 runs batted in with an OPS of .982.
