It was a Quincy, Illinois man's love of pinball that inspired him to open a private club to celebrate an era when games were played with flippers and the experience was far greater than you could ever experience on a TV or phone.

It's a love of pinball. Just bringing back old things to a new age. Reviving things that seem lost in the area...instead of traveling 2 hours, I thought I would allow the people of Quincy to enjoy it.

Brandon Herberlein was kind enough to allow me a look behind the scenes of The Pinball Joint at 610 Maine in uptown Quincy. He explained how he got started and what it takes to join his club.

Brandon Herberlein - "It's a love of pinball. Just bringing back old things to a new age. Reviving things that seem lost in the area. I noticed there was no pinball everywhere. I love pinball...instead of traveling 2 hours, I thought I would allow the people of Quincy to enjoy it."

The Pinball Joint is a private club, but membership is free.

Brandon Herberlein - "We accept new members all the time. Come in with an ID. Fill out some paperwork. Memberships are free. Every time you come, it's either $10 for an hour or $20 for an evening pass. Everything in our building is available for free play".

The tables in The Pinball Joint range from classics like Cactus Canyon and The Black Rose to new tables like Stranger Things. Brandon has even added some modifications to make the play even wilder with a special field that appears when you activate the Upside Down in the game.
