See Illinois Dog Named Buddy Experience Joy of Snow for 1st Time
If you have ever spent time around a Labrador Retriever especially in puppy form, you'll understand this. An Illinois lab named Bucky was captured on video experiencing snow for the first time.
A couple things to note here. First, based on the video description, Buddy was named after a Will Ferrell character in Elf. That's one point in the plus column. Second, this video was actually captured a couple winters ago when Buddy was a puppy.
What do you do if you're a yellow lab puppy who's seeing snow for the first time? You attempt to eat snowflakes of course. This happened in Danville, Illinois apparently.
The AKC describes Labrador Retrievers as "friendly, active and outgoing". I can verify that. Our family was adopted by a yellow lab who we named Samson many years ago. Even though he was an obviously neglected animal before he found us, he was fiercely loyal and took to us immediately. He also ate the daily equivalent of a small Army platoon, too.
You truly haven't experienced wonder unless you've hung out with a lab puppy experiencing new things. They are a blast. Buddy's response to the snow is exactly what I'd expect from these animals. Pure Labrador joy.
