11 Sickened in Illinois Due to Salmonella Outbreak in Eggs
This is becoming one of the most significant Salmonella outbreaks so far this year. 24 people have been hospitalized including 11 in Illinois due to a contamination of eggs.
The CDC just posted a new food alert that affects 9 states including Illinois. According to their urgent bulletin, there are 11 individuals in Illinois alone who have been sickened by Salmonella contaminated eggs.
Milo's Poultry Farms is recalling eggs with these details provided to the CDC:
- Sold to stores and restaurants in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois.
- All chicken egg types, such as cage-free, or organic.
- All cases and carton sizes.
- Labeled with “Milo’s Poultry Farms” or “Tony’s Fresh Market.”
- All expiration dates.
If you consumed any of these eggs in Illinois, watch out for symptoms including diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps. Children younger than 5 years, adults 65 years and older, and people with weakened immune systems can suffer more severe illnesses from Salmonella.
