Registration for ‘Hannibal Cannibal’ Is Now Open

Are you ready to run Hannibal's most famous hill? Registration is now open--and at its best value-- for the Hannibal Cannibal.

The Cannibal is a race up Lover's Leap in Hannibal. Thousands of people from all over the country have entered this race since it began 23 years ago.

About this time of year, you'll see athletes training for the race by making that arduous climb up Lover's Leap on Highway 79. It's a heck of a hill, but the payoff is the best view around of downtown Hannibal with the Mississippi River backdrop.

The race is designed for people with all skill sets. You can participate in a 5K, 10K or 15K run. You can opt for the 5K walk or the kids Fun Run. There are 15 categories of medalists, and even a separate division for heavier runners.

If you register now at hannibalcannibal.com, the cost is $25. After June 18, the price goes up.

The race coincides with National Tom Sawyer Days. This year's event is scheduled for Saturday July 7, with the starting gun to blast at 7 a.m. The money will help renovate Hannibal Regional Hospital's Surgical Services unit.
