Quincy 72nd on the The Best & Worst Illinois Cities for Employment

Illinois currently has the third highest unemployment rate in the United States and is dealing with an ever lingering budget crisis. That, my friends, would not seem to make Illinois a wonderful place to find employment. That can be misleading.According to WalletHub, Illinois boasts the fifth-largest state economy and its private sector is accelerating. This year, 37 Illinois companies made the Fortune 500 list with health care and technology being two of the state’s fastest growing industries.

WalletHub’s analysts ranked 162 cities, including Quincy, based on 16 key indicators of labor-market health, ranging from “employment growth” to “median monthly starting salary” to “unemployment rate.”

WalletHub’s analysts compared 162 Illinois cities using two key factors important to job seekers, the local “Job Market” and the area’s “Socioeconomic Environment.” Quincy came in at 72 on the list with Libertyville, Illinois at number one and Harvey, Illinois last at 162.
