One Tiny Missouri Town Absolutely Forbids Women from Wearing This

If you go to the southeastern part of Missouri, don't even think of wearing this if you're a woman. It will get you locked up and they'll likely throw away the key. That's a slight exaggeration, but it is illegal there and I'll prove it.

I love the Weird Facts website. It's weird and it has facts which are two of my favorite things. Among the many wonderful weird facts they shared is this one and it's an exact quote because I didn't dare mess this one up. It's a real law in Saco, Missouri which is close enough to the Missouri bootheel to be considered part of it. Sort of.

In Saco - Women are forbidden from wearing hats that might frighten timid persons, children, or animals.

For what it's worth, Saco, Missouri is a community and not really a town. Wikipedia says the Saco, Missouri post office was taken away from them in 1979 which is never a good sign. Hopefully the person that shut it down wasn't wearing an offensive hat.

I'm gonna chalk this one up to viewpoints from the Missouri bootheel. Have had some good friends from there over the years, but even they would admit things are done a little different down there. The irony is pretty much all of them wore offensive hats.
