Missouri Drivers: Speeding Fines Are Higher Than You Think
There are few things in life that drivers dread more than flashing lights behind their vehicle. If you travel the highways and roads of Missouri, you should be aware that the cost of a speeding ticket is now higher than you probably think.
I'm glad there's no Wonder Woman truth rope nearby that could force me to tell the truth of how I used to drive. I had a Pontiac Firebird that I flipped the air filter upside down in to try and make it sound more like an 8-cylinder Trans Am. I watched Smokey and the Bandit multiple times. That's all I'm willing to admit right now. I should add that I was in a high-speed accident when I was a junior in high school (I was remarkably driving the speed limit and not at fault) that changed my attitude about driving forever. I bring this story up because there's a new breakdown of the average speeding ticket fines in each state by Finance Buzz and Missouri's is interesting for a number of reasons.
What is the average speeding ticket cost in Missouri?
According to their breakdown, Missouri's average speeding ticket fine including court costs is $103.
It's interesting that they say the minimum cost is $93 while the maximum is $188. I'm guessing that maximum cost is quite a bit more than that if there are extreme speeding circumstances. When you do the math of how little time you save even when you speed 10 mph over the speed limit, it's never worth the potential human price you pay with risk of injuries or even your life. Exceeding the speed limit is never worth it. Don't ask me how I know.
