Illinois Police Add Bold New Ride to Emergency Fleet
There are few things in life more enjoyable than showing off a new ride and the Illinois State Police are no exception. They just revealed a bold new ride to their emergency response fleet.
Thanks to the Public Information Office of the Illinois State Police for allowing me to share pictures and details of a new command vehicle that will be deployed in times of crisis. They said that this elaborate new tech was provided by the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Radiological Security. It will provide them command and control in natural disasters, large-scale accidents, public events, and search-and-rescue operations. This is a 2025 Freightliner which replaced their previous vehicle which had been in service for 18 years.
This high-tech vehicle has slide-out screens for presentations, too.
This inside of this new Illinois emergency response vehicle looks like the interior of Air Force One with its many information screens and devices.
Don't be surprised if you see this new bad boy truck at Illinois community events. Does it make me a bad person to say that I'd hook a PS5 up on those big screens?
"This command vehicle gives us the ability to respond faster, coordinate more effectively, and better serve our communities during critical incidents," said ISP Director Brendan F. Kelly. "It’s a mobile operations center that puts technology and leadership exactly where it’s needed most—right on the ground at the scene of the incident."
