See the Most Toxic Place in Illinois with Deadly Water to Avoid

It's really unfortunate for the many residents who have called it home for years, but the most toxic place in Illinois is a village where you really do need to stay away from the water.

One of my favorite YouTube channels for local Missouri and Illinois travel and destinations is Chris Harden. Just a few days ago, he shared video of what he found in what he called the most toxic small town in Illinois. An argument could be made that it's one of the most toxic in America. It's DePue, Illinois which is a village with only 1,633 residents according to Wikipedia.

Over 100 years ago, slab zinc for automobile and appliances was created here. Unfortunately, that led to toxicity which the state has been trying to clean up for decades.

It's really unfortunate that this Illinois place is still dealing with the after effects of the toxic metals as it has a lot going for it including the famous boat races on the lake. I highly recommend watching the video Chris has just shared as the residents have a lot to say about what's being done (or not done) in DePue to make their Illinois village a decent place to live again.
