If you've never lived in Missouri, the forecast for this weekend sounds outrageous. Since I was born and raised in Missouri, I say this is so typical of my birth state. Storm chasers are warning everyone in Missouri that there's a chance of severe thunderstorms and maybe a major blizzard on the same day.

Kudos to Reed Timmer Extreme Meteorologist for mentioning this on his social media pages today. Look at this map which shows two different major weather events potentially impacting Missouri this weekend and specifically Sunday.

Reed's not the only one seeing this crazy storm possibility for Sunday, by the way. Check this out.

What do the National Weather Service forecasters say about Missouri's weather on Sunday?

The NOAA Storm Prediction Center does have the southeastern part of Missouri under a 15% chance area of seeing severe thunderstorms on Sunday. Don't be misled by the 15% chance part of this. When the Storm Prediction Center puts an area under this kind of advisory, you can count on storms happening.

I can't find any mention of a blizzard yet, but I did check a northeastern Missouri forecast from the NWS and it does say there is a chance of some snow Sunday night...after the thunderstorms because of course there is. While I don't anticipate a major weather event in Missouri Sunday, I do expect atmospheric weirdness because that's what Missouri does best. Expect anything and everything and you likely won't be disappointed.
