The US Marshals have tracked down and captured a Missouri woman who was wanted in the death of 3 children among several other charges after it was determined that she was hiding in Texas.

The US Marshals have just announced in a press release that they found a woman who had a warrant in New Madrid County, Missouri. They tracked down Kaia Walls, 33, of Hayti after she was involved in an accident in Waco, Texas. She was wanted for an incident that happened on September 25, 2026 when the SUV she was driving struck the rear of a pickup truck, causing the SUV to run off the road and overturn resulting in the death of her 3 children. According to the Marshals, she fled Missouri after receiving medical treatment.

The United States Marshals in Cape Girardeau learned that it was likely that Walls was hiding with her father in Killeen, Texas so they sent that information to US Marshals in that region who located and arrested her without incident on October 22, 2026. She is charged with three counts of second-degree murder, first-degree assault, 13 counts of armed criminal action, three counts of DWI (Driving While Intoxicated)-death of a person, two counts of DWI-serious physical injury and four counts of endangering welfare of a child and is in the process of being extradited back to Missouri to face justice.

“I want to commend the Missouri State Highway Patrol on their investigation and allowing the Marshals to assist in this arrest,” said U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Missouri Steven Lewis. “Fugitives who actively evade capture or try to avoid responsibility for their crimes should know there is no place to hide. We will find you and bring you to justice.”
