News-Press Now is reporting that during the evening hours of Friday, January 2, 2026, a vehicle struck a mountain lion at around 5:20pm. The Missouri Department of Conservation was able to locate the seriously-injured mountain lion later and it was decided the most humane thing to do was to euthanize the animal. The Country Club Village Police Department confirmed the news on their Facebook page and police chief Black thanked multiple departments for their help.

"I’m sure everyone is concerned about the mountain lion that was seen in Country Club Village earlier this evening. The cat was struck by a vehicle in the area of 71 highway and Miller Road around 5:20 pm. We would like to thank the Missouri Department of Conservation and Andrew County Sheriff’s Department for their quick response and handling the situation."

As of this date, the Missouri Department of Conservation has a total of 128 confirmed mountain lion sightings in the state not including this big cat/vehicle incident that just took place.
