Missouri’s Most Iconic Diner is Famous for their ‘Super Slinger’
When one internet blogger calls something 'iconic', that's nice, but it's one person's opinion. In this case, it's one of the most famous publications ever that has named a Missouri diner as the most iconic in the state because of what they call their 'super slinger'.
This is a brand new article from none other than Reader's Digest. They doubled-down on the best diner concept saying they knew the "absolute best diner in every state". Big words.
What's Reader's Digest choice for the absolute best and/or iconic diner for Missouri?
In their opinion, it's the Courtesy Diner in St. Louis. It's all because of their "Super Slinger". There are two locations that I'm aware of. One is at 1121 Hampton Ave in St. Louis and the other is at 8000 S Laclede Station Road.
This creation is a huge dish that can overwhelm all but the most prominent forks.
The reviewers on Trip Advisor seem to agree. Very high ratings talk about "a nostalgic experience" and "neato retro diner". "Great burgers" and "not to be missed" also are used to describe this place by the online reviews.
Food is such a subjective thing. It does seem that most agree the nostalgic atmosphere at the Courtesy Diner are on point and definitely would qualify as iconic Missouri with a Route 66 flavor (no food pun intended).
