If you love hummingbirds, there's some potential great news for you. A meteorologist just shared a map showing that Missouri could see these fascinating birds early in March based on a tracking map.

Meteorologist Wes Peery is a Kansas City meteorologist who just shared this interesting graphic which shows hummingbirds could arrive back in Missouri early in the month of March.

According to bird watchers along the Gulf Coast, they're seeing ruby-throated hummingbirds 3 weeks earlier than usual which may mean their migration to the north will also be sooner than Missouri typically sees. As I recall, it was early April last year when we first saw hummingbirds at our feeder in Missouri, but it looks like we'll need to get it ready for deployment earlier this year.

You can keep track of where these tiny birds are being spotted on the Hummingbird Central tracking map. When you start to see sightings in Louisiana and then Arkansas, you know hummingbird arrival in Missouri is imminent. Let's hope that real Spring weather will accompany them instead of the fake Spring Missouri has had for the past few days.

What's the best food to put out for hummingbirds?

Fill your feeder with a simple mixture of 1 part refined white sugar to 4 parts water which mimics nectar. This simple recipe will make the little birds happy and healthy.
