Missouri Could Get Drenched with 10 Inches of Rain in Just 3 Days
Most of Missouri could sure use some rain and it appears the state will indeed be getting and soon. Parts of Missouri could get drenched with up to 10 inches of rain over the next 3 days based on computer models.
My wife the meteorologist just pointed me to this astonishing graphic shared by Pivotal Weather which displays the very common GFS model. This map represents the amount of precipitation Missouri will see between now and Tuesday, November 5. I've circled the most intense rainfall amounts.
The swath that goes from southwestern Missouri all the way through the northeast part of the state should seriously get drenched. Two areas in Missouri show 10 inches of rain with more than half of the state likely seeing at least 4 or 5 inches.
Normally I add caution to forecasts since even one variable change can mean a much different outlook, but the rain is set to begin Saturday night so this GFS model should be accurate.
Here's the timing of the rain in Missouri as shared by the National Weather Service.
The good news is the National Weather Service in St. Louis does not think this will be a flash flood event.
Missouri has needed "widespread beneficial rain" for some time now due to extreme drought conditions, so let's hope these incoming systems will give us the precipitation we need. Finally.
