I could not do either of these things. A fisherman in Missouri caught a rare sturgeon and then let it go. It's the ultimate Missouri catch and release example I've ever seen.

The Missouri Department of Conservation shared the story of Troy Staggs. He was fishing in Lake of the Ozarks and realized he had a fight on his hands. The bent line told him he had a big fish. After 47 minutes (yes, 47 minutes), he landed this sturgeon as the Missouri Department of Conservation shared on their Facebook page today.

To give you an idea how rare this is, only 6 have been reported caught in Lake of the Ozarks in the past 6 years. You just don't see a fish like this every day.

The fact that Troy's sturgeon weighed between 50 and 55 pounds and measured 56 inches long makes me wonder how he ever got it into the boat. That's a 47 minute fight worth...well fighting.

Good for Troy that he's such a sportsman that he allowed this mighty fish to return to the water to taunt future fisherman. Pretty good chance this big boy won't be in another boat any time soon.

Well done, sir.
