Missouri City Car Thefts So Crazy, Police Giving Away Wheel Locks
You know car theft in your community has reached a critical mass when the police start giving away wheel locks. That's exactly what has happened in a suburb of St. Louis recently.

I saw this crazy story shared by several outlets today including The Daily Caller and News Lanes. The community in question is Calverton Park which is located in this part of St. Louis County.
The reports say that if you have a Kia or Hyundai, the Calverton Park police will give you a wheel lock as that car company has partnered with them to make this happen. All you have to do if you're a resident there that doesn't have an engine immobilizer is to call the city clerk at 314-524-1212 and they'll give you a wheel lock as long as their supply lasts.
How bad is the car theft problem in Calverton Park, Missouri?
Answer: REALLY BAD
In September alone, there were 142 Hyundais and 145 Kias stolen. That's just one month. Is someone pretending to be Nicolas Cage in "Gone in 60 Seconds" in St. Louis?
As it stands, whatever you do don't park your vehicle in Calverton Park, Missouri. If you do, you might be hitchhiking your way home.
