Fox 2 St. Louis is reporting that a man is dead after his SUV was struck by a train near Dwiggins Road and Missouri Highway 94. The train was reportedly traveling east when it collided with the vehicle.

No name has been released by authorities as they continue their investigation. The only confirmation from police at this time is that the driver that was killed was male. It's not clear if there were any other passengers in his vehicle, but new details should be revealed soon once the investigation is complete.

It's been a challenging year for railroad safety in Missouri as an Amtrak train derailed near Mendon, Missouri back in June.
