If your home town is looking a little shabby and in need of repair, HGTV wants to hear from you.  The popular series Home Town is staging a takeover to makeover a small town.

The Home Town Takeover is generating a lot of buzz and plenty of stiff competition.  Several area towns have submitted an application.  At least two towns, Monroe City and Pittsfield, are making concentrated efforts to woo the show's producers.  The Downtown Monroe City Revitalization group is a spearheading the efforts to win the grand prize.  You can find out more on their Facebook page.  Pittsfield's Economic Development Director Diana Halmick is taking the lead there.  You can contact her at dhalmick@pittsfield.org for more information.

Towns with a population of less than 40,000 are eligible to enter the contest.  The show is looking for a Main Street that needs revitalization.  They're also taking into consideration homes with great architecture and businesses that could use a face-lift.
