Lewis County Sheriff David Parrish reports deputies were called to a farm north of Monticello about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. They were told a man in an apparent drug induced state was wandering in the yard of the residence. The man was incoherent and uncooperative.

50 year old Douglas Howes of rural LaBelle was taken into custody on two outstanding Lewis County warrants for failure to appear on a prior trespass case and for allegedly stealing fuel from the County Market Express in Lewistown.

Additional charges of trespass and peace disturbance were filed against Howes.
He is in the Lewis County Jail on $1,250 cash only bond.

Sheriff Parrish also commented, "Mr. Howes is currently out of the Missouri Department of Corrections on parole. Since his release, he has been arrested on several occasions leading to the (new) charges. Previously, Mr. Howes had been sentenced to 3 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for possession of a controlled substance. Mr. Howes is a known felon and has numerous prior felony convictions and has served several prison sentences in the past."
