111 Missouri Factory Workers Laid Off, But There’s Good News?
I would classify this as bad news, but with a potential silver lining at the end. There is confirmation that 111 factory workers in Missouri will be laid off near the end of 2024, but there is some hope at the end.
According to the Missouri Jobs website, there's one factory that will be laying off 111 workers beginning on December 30, 2024. The WARN notice that was filed with the state of Missouri says Sodecia Automotive Kansas City, LLC has confirmed that the layoffs are real and will begin the day before New Years Eve at the end of 2024. They are a vehicle parts manufacturer in the Kansas City area.
So how does a layoff of 111 in Missouri have some good news?
The layoffs are temporary as the WARN notice says that the workers will be allowed to return on July 1, 2025. The report says that the company who makes auto parts had a pause in their production ordered by the auto company they make parts for. That's why the need for the layoffs came about.
I would still file this under the bad news column as it's no easy task to endure are 6 month layoffs when you have bills to pay, but it's still better than a permanent work stoppage. Here's hoping that the company can find new business to bring these workers back sooner.
