Fitness Equipment Theft of $400K Tied to Illinois Man
A major theft of fitness equipment followed by a sale on Facebook Marketplace has led to a man in Illinois being charged with a felony of $400,000 in stolen merchandise.
I first saw this interesting case of alleged fitness equipment theft shared by CDL Life. Why would a trucking industry site share a story about a fitness equipment theft in Illinois? Because this was $400,000 of gear connected to a cargo theft in Joliet, Illinois. They pointed to the Cook County, Illinois Sheriff's Office for more details about what is alleged to have happened. They say that back in April a huge cargo of fitness equipment was stolen, but then later traced to a sale on Facebook Marketplace.
They allege that 57-year-old Isadore House of Chicago, Illinois was the seller of this stolen fitness equipment that was purchased by undercover Organized Retail Crime investigators in Illinois. That led to a search warrant that was executed on June 5, 2025 where they claim they recovered $400,000 in fitness equipment from the suspects storefront and storage unit. He has been charged with one count of a Class 1 Felony Theft charge. He has now been released pending trial.
This case is another example of this relatively new Illinois retail crime investigation team that says it has recovered $5 million dollars in stolen goods since it was created.
